Bad Parking at Food Basics Leaves Driver Fuming
A white van parked at a truly spectacular angle at the Food Basics on Fairview Street left one driver fuming — and the van owner's defence might be even more baffling than the parking job itself.

We've all seen it — someone parked at a truly baffling angle, taking up space like the lot is their personal driveway. But a recent incident at the Food Basics on Fairview Street took things to a whole new level.
A Reddit user returned to their car to find a white van parked so close that getting into the driver's seat would have required a full contortionist routine — or a walk around to the passenger side. So they did what any of us would do: snapped a photo and waited.
The van's driver showed up shortly after, and when confronted, offered a response that will live rent-free in Burlington parking lore: "I park like this so I can get in and out of my vehicle." When asked about everyone else's ability to do the same, the driver doubled down — claiming the other person had parked that way too.
Word to the wise: if your parking style requires a custom explanation and leaves your neighbours doing gymnastics just to get into their cars, maybe aim for a spot at the far end of the lot. There's always room out there — and plenty of space to reflect.
